So you might be asking yourself why build or buy a Home Theater PC?  What are the advantages over a DVR system from your cable provider like Comcast?  Also what are the disadvantages?

End Goal

So the end goal here is to have a HDTV with seamless access to a library of TV Shows, DVD movies, HD movies with detailed information on each video. Also the ability to have recorded TV shows commercial free and a collection of photo's and music all connected to the internet with a full function DVR and TV Guide system built in.  This technology currently does not exist in a box you can buy from a store but with a little help you can make the impossible simple.
